ORDER
This writ petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to issue license to the cremation ground in S.No.101/13B in No.28, Velagapuram village, Velagapuram Panchayat, Poondi Panchayat Union, Uthukkottai Taluk, Thiruvallur District, by considering the representation dated 07.06.2024 within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court. 2.Mrs.C.Meera Arumugam, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for R1 & R3. Mr.K.Suresh, learned Government Advocate takes notice for R2.
3.By consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
4.The case of the petitioner is that for the purpose of forming a cremation ground, an extent of 0.20 cents of land, in S.No.101/13 in Velagapuram village, was earmarked. In the said land, Velagapuram Panchayat Board, constructed a permanent structure for cremation and for performing pre-cremation rituals. The petitioner asserts that the crematorium is being used by all the villagers, but
no license has been obtained for the same. It is further stated that a representation dated 07.06.2024, was submitted to the third respondent, seeking issuance of requisite license for the crematorium. However, as no action has been taken, the present writ petition has been filed. 5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the opinion that it would suffice to direct the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.06.2024, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6.With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
