ORDER

This petition is filed to direct the respondent for speedy disposal of the case in CC.No.1704 of 2017 pending on the file of the CCB, Metropolitan 1/4

Magistrate Court, Egmore, Chennai, in a time-bound manner.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner and his father deposited amounts to the tune of Rs.18,00,000/- with one Prudential Motors Finance Limited in favour of them and other family members. Subsequently, they cheated the petitioner and other depositors and failed to repay the money as promised. Hence, a case in Crime No.561 of 2000 was registered against the accused and it was taken as C.C.No.4270 of 2001 before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court. Later, on the point of jurisdiction, the case has been transferred to learned CCB Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore and renumbered as CC.No.1704 of 2017. Since the matter is pending for two decades (including the period from which the case was pending before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate), it causes stress and disappointment in the mind of the petitioner.

3. Records would show that the case has been taken on file as early as on in the year 2017 and it is being adjourned repeatedly for evidence. Taking into consideration the long pendency of the matter and also the inconvenience expressed by the petitioner, I feel it is appropriate to impress the learned CCB 2/4

Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore to dispose of the case as expeditiously as possible.

5.In the result, this Criminal Original Petition is allowed and the learned CCB Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore is directed to dispose of the case in C.C.No.1704 of 2017 as expeditiously as possible preferrably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 04.11.2022 Index: yes/no Internet: yes/no msr To
