ORDER

The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to provide police protection to the petitioner and his family members based on the complaint dated 26.04.2017 and investigate the same in accordance with law.

2.It is the case of the petitioner that she has lodged a complaint dated 26.04.2017 before the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, against her father-in-law and his second wife, seeking police protection, alleging that they have threatened her to vacate the house, the title of which stands in the name of her deceased mother-in-law Pushpa, who is the mother of the petitioner's husband. She has already filed a complaint against her father-in-law and his second wife before the Inspector of Police, Redhills Police Station, about the suspicious death of her husband. Since there was no response on her complaint, dated 26.04.2017, she has come up with the present petition for the above stated relief.

3.Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondent police, at the instigation of her father-in-law, is calling the petitioner frequently and harassing her.

4.On the other hand, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, submitted that there was no such harassment as alleged by the petitioner. He further submitted that the petitioner did not appear before the respondent for enquiry even for a single occasion.

5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court, in order to give quietus to the issue involved, directs the respondent police to issue notice, calling upon the petitioner as well as other necessary parties, for enquiry and on such appearance by the parties, conduct enquiry and proceed further in accordance with law. Till such time, the respondent police shall not harass the petitioner under the guise of enquiry.

6.This petition is ordered accordingly.
