Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, praying to issue a direction to the respondent police to investigate the case in Crime No.1243 of 2014 on his file to file a final report before the appropriate court in accordance with law and fix the time frame in stipulated time period for the Trail of the above said Crime before XXI Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Egmore by this Hon'ble Court.

ORDER

This petition is filed praying for a direction to the respondent police to investigate the case in Crime No.1243 of 2014 on his file to file a final report before the appropriate court in accordance with law and fix the time frame in stipulated time period for the Trail of the above said Crime before XXI Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Egmore by this Court. 2.A complaint has been lodged by this petitioner as against unknown persons for the alleged offence punishable under Section 379 of IPC. Though the complaint has been registered in Crime No.1243 of 2014 as early as on 30.05.2014, till date there is no progress in the investigation and the final report has not been filed. Hence, this petition.

3.Today, when the matter is taken up for consideration, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on the date of occurrence, the petitioner was travelling from Pondicherry to Thiruvotriyur and from Thiruvotriyur to Velacherry and while she was travelling, seven sovereigns of jewels kept in a bag was stolen by un-known persons.

Therefore, it would take considerable time to complete the investigation. 4.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Public Prosecutor. 5.In view of the submissions made on either side, this Court directs the respondent police to expedite the investigation, complete the same and file final report as early as possible. 6.This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of accordingly.
