The petitioner seeks bail in C.C.No.12609 of 2022 in Crime No.398 of 2022 on the file of the V Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Chennai for the offences under Sections 448, 379 & 511 of IPC. The petitioner has been remanded to judicial custody on 30.05.2024 on execution of the NBW issued against them on 26.06.2023.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 30.05.2024 and is in judicial custody for more than 2 months. He would further submit that the petitioner would co-operate with the trial, as such, he sought for bail to the petitioner.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent submitted that it is not the case that the petitioner did not know about the NBW pending as against the petitioner and due to the absence of the accused, the case could not proceeded further. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioner.

4. This Court is not impressed with the conduct of the petitioner. Thus, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. However, having stated, this Court directs the learned V Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Chennai to conclude the trial within a period of two months and dispose of the matter. If any case, not disposed within the time stipulated, the petitioner may approach the Court for grant of bail then.
