2. The prayer in the writ petitions is for a mandamus directing the respondents to remit the balance of amounts due to the petitioners by the Public Works Department (PWD) contractors.
3. On 20.09.2023, this Court had directed the petitioners to have a meeting with the respondents in order to arrive at a proper quantification of the amounts in dispute.

Learned counsel for the petitioners also acquiesces to the correctness of the quantification as above and Mr.M.Rajendiran, who appears for the respondents, on instructions, would state that the Executive Engineer, PWD, arrayed as R2 will take necessary steps to ensure that the amounts are settled expeditiously, at the very earliest and not beyond a period of eight (8) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order.
