PETITIONS under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of Writs of Mandamus directing the respondent herein to receive the petitioner's Applications in Form CCPA, all dated 05.08.2016, for the grant of Contract Carriage Maxi Cab Permits in respect of Vehicle Numbers TN20-BV1512, TN18-D-1137, TN18-C-3810 and TN18-C-3334, respectively, forthwith.

Mr. R.Govindasamy, Special Government Pleader C O M M O N O R D E R Mr.R.Govindasamy, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent, in all the writ petitions. Heard both. By consent, the writ petitions are taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioners have filed these writ petitions seeking a direction to the respondent to receive their applications for grant of Maxi Cab Permits and consider the same.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that there is a need for more maxi cabs on account of the fact that several existing permit holders have stopped their operations and surrendered their permits.

4. In any event, as the petitioners' applications have not been received by the respondent, without going into the merits of the case as projected by the petitioners, the writ petitions are disposed of with a direction to the respondent to receive the petitioners' applications, all dated 05.08.2016, consider the same and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date, on which, the applications are presented, along with the copy of this order. No costs.
