The Petitioner/A1, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the Respondent police for the offence punishable under Sections 419, 420, 109 & 506(ii) of IPC in Crime No.24 of 2023 on the file of the Respondent police, seeks anticipatory bail.
2.The case of the prosecution is that the Petitioner/A1 impersonated as working as a Senior Government Officer in Social Welfare Department in Salem District Collector's Office, collected a sum of Rs.13,98,000/- as advance from the Defacto Complainant and 26 others from February 2021 to July 2021, saying that she would give loans under Tamil Nadu Government Scheme for under privileged and below poverty women through Women Self Help Groups and A2, A3 & A4 also came along with A1 during collection of money. A1 to A4 are conspired together with bad intention and deceive the Defacto Complainant. Hence the complaint.

4.Learned counsel for the Petitioner would contend that he is ready to deposit a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- (Rupees five lakh) to the credit of this case and seeks anticipatory bail to the Petitioner.
5.Heard the learned counsel for the Petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the Respondent Police. 6.Taking into consideration the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) that more than Rs.24,00,000/- is alleged to have been cheated by this Petitioner under the guise of getting loan to 25 victims and further it is anticipated that some more persons could also come forward, who are cheated in the hands of the Petitioner and considering the 3/ 5
Petitioner having committed similar offence as stated in the above tabular column and the enquiry is at the stage of preliminary investigation and also apprehend that the Petitioner may tamper the witness or tamper the evidence, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the Petitioner. 7.Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 29.09.2023 (1⁄2) sai 4/ 5
