This Criminal Original Petition is filed to expedite the trial in C.C.No.299 of 2018 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate No.I, 1/4

Kancheepuram. The petitioner is the accused and due to retire within one year, the pendency of the criminal case is likely to affect his retirement prospects. Therefore, seeks for expedite trial. 2.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submits that due to vacancy in the Judicial Magistrate No.I, Court, the case been heard by the Judicial Magistrate No.II, Kancheepuram (Incharge) and that is the reason why the prosecution is unable to marshal the witnesses. He also submits that the case is now posted to 17.09.2024 for examination of further Pws. 3.

Considering the nature of the grievance expressed by the petitioner herein, it is appropriate to direct the Judicial Magistrate No.II, Kancheepuram to proceed with examination of witnesses and complete the trial as expeditiously as possible. The respondent police is directed to marshal the witnesses on the next hearing date and ensure there is a progress in the trial.

With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
