ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.] This habeas corpus petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to produce the detenue V.Ramya, D/o.Venkatesan, aged about 21 yeas, before this Court and set her at liberty.

2.It is the case of the petitioner that his daughter Ramya, aged about 21 years, went missing from 24.11.2021 and that the police are not taking effective steps to secure her.

3.Today, S.Murugan (Mobile No.94981 07468), Sub-Inspector of Police, J-7, Velacherry Police Station, is present. 4.On instructions, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on a complaint given by the petitioner a case in Velacherry Police Station Crime No.997 of 2021 has been registered on 24.11.2021 for 'woman missing' and during the course of investigation, it came to light that Ramya was in love with one Anand and since both of them belong to different castes, Ramya's parents were not agreeable for their marriage and therefore, Ramya has gone with Anand and got married to him on 25.11.2021. He further submitted that Ramya appeared before the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Perambalur, gave her statement and sought for police protection fearing that there could be honour killing. He produced the marriage photographs of Ramya and Anand and also the complaint that was given by Ramya, based on which, a petition enquiry in C.S.R.No.605 of 2021 has been registered.

5.We furnished these documents to the learned counsel for the petitioner across the bar.

In view of the same, this habeas corpus petition stands closed with a direction to the second respondent/police to produce Ramya, aged about 21 years, whenever she is secured, before the XVIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet, Chennai, under intimation to the petitioner. On such production, the learned Magistrate shall pass appropriate orders with regard to custody in accordance with law.
