Petitioner has come up with this Writ Petition seeking a direction to the Respondents to provide electricity service connection to his property vide Application dated 29.07.2019.
According to the Petitioner, he made an Application on 29.07.2019 for domestic electricity service connection to his property situated in S.No.311/1, Edayanchavadi II, Ponneri Taluk, Thiruvallur District, with requisite documents including Adangal standing in his name, as the said land is classified as 'Grama Nathan'. However, without assigning any reasons, the 2nd Respondent returned the Petitioner's Application stating that, only if an NOC is obtained from the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, electricity connection can be given to his property. Learned counsel for the Petitioner drew the attention of this Court to an order dated 04.09.2017 passed by this Court in W.P.No.14930 of 2017, wherein, in a similar circumstance, the 2nd Respondent therein was directed to provide electricity service connection after obtaining Indemnity Bond from the Petitioner therein. He further submitted that, the Petitioner herein had also submitted an Indemnity Bond to the 2nd Respondent herein.

Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the material documents available on record.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into its merits, this Court directs the 2nd Respondent herein to consider the Petitioner's Application dated 29.07.2019 seeking electricity service connection to his property, after hearing the Petitioner and the 3rd Respondent/Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
