ORDER

The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai, to conclude the trial in C.C.No.8436 of 2017 within the stipulated time.

2. The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that based on the complaint lodged by the de facto complainant, a case in Crime No.869 of 2012 was registered by the respondent against the petitioner on 03.09.2012. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed and taken cognizance only in the year 2017 in C.C.No.8436 of 2017 on the file of the II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai . However, despite the lapse of time, there has been no progress in the trial. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking a direction to expedite the trial. 2/4

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case particularly that the case pertains to the year 2012 and despite the filing of the charge sheet in the year 2017, the trial is still pending, this Court directs the learned II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai, to complete the trial in C.C.No.8436 of 2017 as expeditiously as possible.
