Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to remove the names of the people who have been identified by the petitioners and others numbering 82 people who are not residing in New Ward No. 15, New Part No. 130, Thiruporur Town Panchayat, Chengalpet District vide the representation dated 20.11.2021 and thereby publish a fresh list for New Ward No. 15, New Part No. 130, Thiruporur Town Panchayat, Chengalpet District only with the names of the eligible voters who are actually residing in Padavettamman Koil Street, Thiruporur, Chengalpet District.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) The writ petition has been filed seeking a direction on the respondents for identification and to remove 82 voters in Ward No. 15. It is on the ground that without proper verification of the names, 82 voters were placed on voters' list though they are not residing in Ward No. 15. The respondents have issued fresh voters' list, but care was not taken to remove the names of the persons who are not residing in Ward No. 15.
2. Learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the first to third respondents submits that after verification, it was found that 14 voters have died and, accordingly, their names were removed. As 76 voters have shifted their residence, their names would also be removed. Four persons are residing in the same ward and therefore, there is no proposal to remove their names from the voters' list. It is further stated that fresh voters' list would be published on 05.01.2022 after removing the names of the aforesaid persons. Learned counsel for the petitioners is satisfied with the steps taken by the respondent authorities.
3. In view of the above, we dispose of the writ petition in the light of the subsequent events and satisfaction of the petitioners on that aspect. W.M.P.Nos.28221 and 28222 of 2021 are closed.
