By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
The writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondents to pay interest @ 10% for the belated payment of gratuity, P.F. and leave salary to the petitioners.

The case of the petitioners is that they were appointed in the respondent Transport Corporation on 17.02.1987, 01.05.1987 and 09.04.1991 respectively and after completion of unblemished service, retired on 30.04.2023, 31.05.2023 and 30.06.2023 respectively. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to them only on 12.02.2023, 10.03.2025 and 16.04.2025 respectively and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. In view of the same, the petitioners submitted representation to the respondents to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submits that in view of the similar order passed by this Court in W.P.Nos.40031, 33742 and 35806 of 2024, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
In the result, the Writ Petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
