ORDER

The prayer made in the writ petition is to issue a writ of

Mandamus directing the respondent to grant permission and provide protection to conduct Orchestra (Light Music Programme) in the event of the temple festival of Arulmigu Sri Angalaparameshwari Temple situated at Karikadu Village, Cuddalore Taluk and District, scheduled to be held on 24.03.2017.

2. It is the grievance of the petitioner that he has submitted a representation dated 13.12.2016 to the respondent police, seeking permission to conduct the said orchestra programme, scheduled to be held on 24.03.2017. However, till date, no order has been passed by the respondent police. Hence, this petition.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent has no serious objection in conducting the said programme, but he submitted that the programme shall not be allowed to be performed till midnight.

4. In view of the above, the respondent police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.12.2016 and grant permission to the petitioner to conduct Orchestra in the event of Sri Angalaparameshwari Temple festival, scheduled to be held on 24.03.2017, subject to usual conditions. It is made clear that this

Court has not granted any direction to conduct "Adal Padal Nigazhchi / dance programme". It is also made clear that the programme shall be performed only till 10.00 p.m.
