Respondents Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to include the petitioner name in the appropriate place of the panel/list of Assistant Engineer/Junior Engineer (Electrical) for the promotion to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical) in Public Works Department as per the amendment issued in G.O.Ms.No. 3037 dated 22.12.1986 based on his representation dated 12.01.2016.

This writ petition has been filed by R.Gunanithi, who is serving as Assistant Engineer (Electrical) in the Public Works Department, Chepauk, Chennai, seeking mandamus directing the respondents to include her name in the appropriate place of the panel of Assistant Engineer/ Junior Engineer (Electrical) for the promotion to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical) in Public Works Department for the year 2015-2016 as per the amendment issued in G.O.Ms.No.3037 dated 22.12.1986 based on the representation dated 12.01.2016. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.R.Vijayakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, who took notice for the respondents and with their consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal.

3. This Court, without going into the merits of the writ petition, considering the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, directs the first respondent to consider and pass orders on the pending representation dated 12.01.2016, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that if the amendment issued in G.O.Ms.No.3037 dated 22.12.1986 is applicable to the petitioner, the same may also be considered by the respondents.

4. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
