On the complaint given by the Registrar of the Annamalai University, Thillai Nagar police has registered a case regarding fake certificates thrown under the bridge near Annamalai University campus. Subsequently, the investigation was transferred to CBCID, Chidambaram in Crime No.1 of 2024, leading to search of the residence of one Sankar and Nagappan. Around 8500 fake certificates of Siddha and Ayurvedic medicine been recovered from their residence. In this connection, the petitioners herein who are 7 in numbers, and others were summoned to appear for enquiry to produce their certificates to verify whether their certificate if any genuine or not.

Being aggrieved by issuance of summons and the treatment at the police station, the petitioners herein are before this Court stating that they are rendering Tamil medicine and traditional vaithyam service in the locality and they possess due qualification in the said service. Under the guise of investigation, the petitioners are called and subjected to harassment.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police produced the documents and submits that these petitioners are holding fake certificates and engaged in dispersive medical service in the villages. They were called for enquiry through 2/4
Section 160 Cr.P.C., summon, except Subramanian, the petitioner in Crl.O.P.No.22061 of 2024, none appeared. Subramanian who appeared before the police and produced his certificate alleged to have been issued by Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council, Arumbakkam is found to be a fake certificate. Therefore, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) states that to identify the quack medical practitioner, the enquiry is necessary. The petitioners herein to avoid enquiry are before this Court alleging harassment.

This Court, on perusing the records, finds that the petitions filed are devoid of merits and facts. The investigation by the CBCID, Cuddalore in Crime No.1 of 2024 has to be intensified to identify the quack medical practitioner using fake certificate. Hence this Criminal Original Petitions are dismissed.
