This writ petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to commence and conclude the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner in G.O. 2(D).No.154 Home (Transport II-A Dept) dated 09.05.2022 within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2. Mr.Yogesh Kannadasan, learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal in the admission stage itself.

3. The petitioner is a Motor Vehicle Inspector, Grade-II. According to the petitioner, there was a surprise inspection by the District Vigilance Cell officials and during the surprise inspection, it is alleged that the District Vigilance Cell officials have recovered certain amounts from the premises where the petitioner was working and allegation of corruption has been made against the petitioner. Thereafter, G.O. 2(D).No.154 Home (Transport II-A Dept) dated 09.05.2022 was issued under which, a direction was issued to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the petitioner. According to the petitioner, despite the said G.O. till date, no disciplinary proceedings has 2/6

been initiated against the petitioner. The petitioner seeks for expeditious disposal of the disciplinary proceedings in this writ petition.

4. Heard Mr.Venkataramani, learned Senior Counsel representing Mr.M.Muthappan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.Yogesh Kannadasan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5. No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if such a direction is issued to the respondents.

6. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the second respondent to commence and conclude the disciplinary proceedings against the petitioner, pursuant to G.O. 2(D).No.154 Home (Transport II-A Dept) dated 09.05.2022, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. With the aforesaid directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No 3/6

costs.
