This Writ petition has been filed to direct the respondent to grant 1/4
permission to conduct the celebration of the incarnation day on 05.10.2022 of Sri Ramalingaswami, at Srimath Ramalinga Swamigal Madalayam Alais Perumal Swamigal Arakkatalai, Tiruvottiyur, Chennai - 600 019 based on the representation dated 27.09.2022.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the proposed celebration is to be celebrated on 05.10.2022 but now become infructuous. He would further submit that they are ready to celebrate the incarnation day on 16.10.2022. Hence, he seeks direction to the respondent to grant permission for the proposed celebration.
3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) for the respondent police would submit that the respondent police will consider the representation if the petitioner gives a fresh representation.
4. It is brought to the notice of this Court that the Director General of Police, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, had issued a circular memorandum in Rc.007301/Genl.I(1)/2019, dated 09.04.2019, along with instructions to the 2/4
Inspectors of Police throughout Tamil Nadu for consideration of applications seeking permission for conducting cultural programme.
5. In view of the above, the petitioner herein is directed to give fresh representation to the respondent police with regard to the proposed celebration on 16.10.2022. On receipt of the same, the respondent police is directed to consider the same in view of the detailed circular and guidelines issued by the Director General of Police and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law.
