The petitioner filed this Writ Petition challenging the proceedings of the Inspector of Police, Muthupettai, rejecting the request made by the petitioner to install Ganapathi Idol and take it in procession through important streets of the area and immerse it at Bamani River.
2. The learned Government Advocate after getting instructions submitted that the request to install idol and take procession is not the same route which the petitioner carried the procession previous year. He further stated that there was an issue previous year while taking procession and some of the participants in the procession behaved indecently while passing through street of other community. Subsequent to filing of Writ Petition and after matter partly heard on 03.09.2024, on instructions, the learned Government Advocate states that the petitioner will be permitted to carry 2/4
out procession in the same route which they went last year as per the proceedings of the District Superintendent of Police dated 10.09.2023. The said proceedings reads as follows:- "The petitioners are permitted to carry out Vinayagar idol procession from Thambikottai Keelakadu, Maleya Ganapathi Nagar, Pillaiyar Kovil Bamani River Shutress and immerse the idol."
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner accepts the alternate route and undertake to give a letter of representation to the Inspector of Police immediately and conduct the festival positively.
4. Recording the said submission, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
