The petitioner who is arrayed as A.1 apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 341, 294(b), 323, 324, 506(ii) IPC registered in Cr.No.182 of 2023, seeks anticipatory bail.
2. The case of prosecution is that the defacto complainant viz. Rakesh Anand lodged a complaint before the respondent police stating that on 18.08.2023 at about 1.30 p.m. he was returning from Pachaiyappa's college to home in Metropolitan Bus No.15 and when the bus reached at Central Bus stop, two identified persons and other abused him in filthy language and suddenly attacked with knife due to which he sustained injury in thumb finger.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is studying B.A. (Political Science) III year in Presidency College, he was not present at the time and scene of occurrence; that due to dispute between two college students, the incident had occurred; that the petitioner is 1/3
no way connected to the offence.
4. The learned Government Advocate (crl.side) would contend that due to the rivalry between college students viz. Pachaiyappas College and Presidency College, there is a dispute and in addition of the same, the petitioner alongwith others has waylaid the defacto complainant, assaulted with knife and caused injury to the thumb finger of the defacto complainant.
5. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the Government Advocate (crl.side) and perused the records.

Considering the nature and gravity of the offence, attitude and behaviour of the college students in engaging in free street fight and causing injury, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner for the present, with a liberty to file fresh application after passage of time or change in circumstances.
7. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. rgr 2/3
