O R D E R
The petitioner has filed this Writ petition seeking direction to the 1st respondent to take steps to issue passport to the petitioner, by considering his letter dated 11.08.2023.
2. The case of the petitioner is that, on 27.01.2021, the petitioner made an application before the 1st respondent for renewal of his passport, pursuant to which, though the petitioner received his renewed passport bearing No.U2742037 dated 28.01.2021, however, the petitioner was not permitted to access his renewed passport. Further, the 1st respondent, vide letter dated 07.07.2021 sought clarification with regard to the criminal cases pending in Cr.Nos.49 of 2018 and 325 of 2020 against the petitioner. Upon receipt of the said letter, though the petitioner sent a detailed representation/letter dated 11.08.2023, however, the same was not considered and till date, the petitioner was not provided access to his renewed passport. Hence, this writ petition.
3. Though very many grounds have been raised, the learned counsel for Page No.2 of 6
the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation/letter dated 11.08.2023 and to consequently, issue passport to the petitioner as expeditiously as possible.
4. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respective respondents submitted that, appropriate orders will be passed on the petitioner's representation dated 11.08.2023 within the time stipulated by this Court.
5. In view of the aforesaid submissions, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation/letter dated 11.08.2023 on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner.
6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
