This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to direct the 1/4

respondent to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner and Periya Neelankarai Village people based on the complaint dated 28.7.2023. The petitioner had also given a complaint dated 02.8.2023 to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai.

2. Heard the learned counsel for petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondent.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent submitted that on the complaint given by the petitioner to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, a petition enquiry is pending in C.No. 4418/COP/Visitors/2023 on the file of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar and a final decision will be taken on the complaint given by the petitioner.

4. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar is directed to conduct an enquiry in keeping with the judgment of the Supreme Court of India in 2/4

the case of Lalitha Kumari Vs. Government of Uttar Pradesh [reported in 2013 (6) CTC 353], wherein the Supreme Court has enumerated the nature of cases where preliminary enquiry can be conducted and has also restricted the period, for which preliminary enquiry can be conducted. He is also directed to complete the enquiry in the case and take a decision within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
