This petition is filed to enlarge the petitioner on bail in Cr.No.158 of 2023 on the file of the respondent Police.

2.It is the submission of learned counsel for the petitioner that petitioner is falsely implicated as accused in Cr.No.158 of 2023 for the offences under Sections 489 (C) I.P.C altered to Sections 489 (C), 489 (D), 489 (E) I.P.C. It is submitted that petitioner is totally innocent. He was not aware of the fact that the money transacted was fake. He is in judicial custody from 13.08.2023. Thus, he seeks bail. 3.In response, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that defacto-complainant owns chicken stall in the name and style of Sangeetha Naatukozhi Kadai. On 13.08.2023, at about 10.30 a.m., petitioner came to his shop and asked for chicken. As a consideration towards the sale price, he paid Rs.400/- in two Rs.200/- fresh notes. On receiving the notes, defactocomplainant found that the centre line in the two notes missing and told the petitioner that the currency notes are not genuine, but fake. Petitioner tried 1/5

to escape from there. However, he was apprehended and then he was handed over to the Police along with fake currency notes. It is the further submission of learned Additional Public Prosecutor that petitioner is working under first accused. A3 is running a fancy store and petitioner and second accused are working under him. A3 has printer machine, xerox machine and laser printer. That apart six Rs.200/- fake currency notes also seized in the fancy store of the third accused. Since, this case involves the illegal production and distribution of fake currency notes, investigation is required to be conducted extensively. Investigation in this case is still pending.

4.Considered the rival submissions and perused the records. 5.Considering the nature of allegations made in the First Information Report, that investigation in this case is not completed and it is in preliminary stage and the role of this petitioner and other accused had to be investigated on the allegations made in the First Information Report, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. 2/5
