Respondents PRAYER: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to reserve the Edaiyur Councilor, Muthupet Panchayat Union, Thiruvarur District for the Scheduled caste in view of the Rule-7 of the Tamilnadu Panchayats (Reservation of seats and rotation of reserved seats) Rules 1995.

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The representation of the petitioner dated Nil, received by the respondents on 14.9.2016, seeking reservation of Edaiyur Councilor, Muthupet Panchayat Union for the benefit of a Schedule Caste in view of Rule 7 of the Tamilnadu Panchayats (Reservation of seats and rotation of reserved seats) Rules 1995, was forwarded to the Director, Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj by the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission by letter dated 22.9.2016 for appropriate action. The petitioner appears not to have received any response to this representation.

2. We, thus, call upon the third respondent to take necessary action in this behalf within a week of receipt of the order, since already considerable time has elapsed.
