This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.07.2024 wherein the petitioner has sought for promotion to the post of Professor under the Career Advancement Scheme.

2. Heard Mr.M.Velmurugan, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.S.Sithirai Anandam, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondent.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he was working as Associate Professor in the respondent University and he attained the age of superannuation on 13.06.2020. The grievance of the petitioner is that he was entitled for promotion to the post of Professor under the Career Advancement Scheme and the same was not considered. In view of the same, the petitioner made a representation on 11.07.2024 to effect the promotion and to extend the attendant benefits. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the 2/4

case and without going into the merits of the case and considering the limited relief sought for, there shall be a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.07.2024 and to deal with the same on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
