O R D E R
A1, who is involved in a white collar offence seeks direction to the respondent police under Section 482 Cr.P.C to complete the investigation at an early date and file the final report.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor.
3. A1, Revenue Inspector is alleged to have demanded illegal gratification to discharge his public duty. Crime reported was registered in Cr.No.9 of 2014.
4. The grievance of the petitioner is that investigation has not been completed for a long time. Right to speedy trial has been widened now. Quick investigation also has been included as part of right to speedy trial. Unless investigation is completed, question of providing speedy trial will not arise. 5. A person, who has been involved in a criminal case is entitled to be told quickly whether he is guilty or not guilty. This is his basic right under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.
6. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that several steps have been taken in this trap case. Scientific report has to be obtained. Steps have been taken to speed up the investigation.
7. In the circumstances, the respondent is directed to complete the investigation at an early date, preferably, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
8. With the above direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
