O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 31.07.2025 wherein the petitioner is requesting for change in name, which has been wrongly mentioned in the property tax assessment bills.
2. Heard Mr.V.Vadivalagia Nambi, learned counsel for petitioner, Mr.G.Velu, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for respondents 1, 2, 3 & 5 and Mr.Swami Subramanian, learned counsel appearing for fourth respondent.
3. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is a 2/4
recognised political party and is in lawful possession and enjoyment of the property. The property was acquired by the Tiruvannamalai Town Congress Committee. Thereafter, the petitioner came into the scene and the name was also changed. The grievance of the petitioner is that the property tax assessment is being made in the name of the Chairman, District Congress Committee and this took place without notice to the petitioner. In view of the same, the petitioner submitted a representation on 31.07.2025 to restore the tax assessment and other records in the name of the petitioner. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.
4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the materials placed before this Court, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to deal with the representation made by the petitioner on 31.07.2025 on its own merits and in accordance with law after affording opportunity to all the interested parties and a final decision shall be taken within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
