Respondents PRAYER: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 19.7.2016 and direct the respondents to conduct an Air, Environment and Noise Pollution Check in the areas of Triplicane, Anna Salai, Mylapore, Guindy, Pallavaram and other areas which are not mentioned in the RTI Report of the Pollution Control Board of Chennai dated 28.3.2016.

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The grievance of the petitioner is that the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board is operating eight ambient air quality monitoring stations in Chennai under the National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP), while the extent https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

of Chennai is quite large. In effect, the prayer is that the Pollution Control Board should have more such stations to check the pollution levels in different parts of Chennai.

2. We are of the view that the respondents may examine the feasibility of setting up more of such monitoring stations keeping in mind the different areas covered by the Chennai City and communicate the decision to the petitioner within three months of the date of receipt of the order.
