ORDER

The XVIII Additional Judge, City Civil Court, Chennai has addressed a letter to this Court seeking extension of time to complete the trial proceedings and dispose the appeal.

2. This Court directed the First Appellate Court to dispose the appeal within 6 months from the date of receipt of a copy of the order through a judgment dated 15.02.2023. Pursuant to the direction of this Court, the matter was taken up on several dates and continuous proceedings were conducted and during the pendency of the suit, interlocutory applications were also filed and the same are pending, thereby unable to complete the proceedings within the time as directed by this Court.

3. This Court perused the report of the learned Judge. On a perusal of report, it revealed that the learned Judge has frequently adjourned the matter even before numbering the applications and also granted long adjournments and the said practice is not appreciable. Already this Court granted 6 months time. However, due to long and frequent adjournments, he was unable to complete the proceedings. Therefore, the learned XVIII Additional Judge, City Civil Court is directed to complete the proceedings within 3 months time without any long adjournment beyond 3 days.

4. With the above said conditions, time is extended for another 3 months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 22-01-2026 MJS
