O R D E R
The petitioner herein is the President of Sakthi Vinayagar Trust, Kavarai Village, Gingee Taluk, Villupuram District and they have given a representation to the respondents-Police on 27.08.2024 seeking Police protection for celebrating Vinayagar Chathurthi festival in Sri Sakthi Vinayagar Temple, on 06.09.2024 and 07.09.2024. Even before the respondents-police taking note of their request, the President has come to this Court seeking police protection to give permission and adequate protection for the procession.

Learned counsel appearing the petitioner had also enclosed the invitation for the festival, in which it is stated that there would be Abhishekam for the Deity on 07.09.2024 between 9.00 a.m., to 1100 a.m., Annadanam at 12.00 noon to 2.00 p.m., and procession of Utchavar between 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m and then drama after 11.00 p.m. While the invitation notice mentions two events inside the Temple and two events outside the Temple, the representation of the petitioner is only for conducting festival inside the Temple and no specific request is made for procession and drama. However, in the writ petition, he has enlarged his request which is not reflected in his representation.

Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents submits that as far as request made by the petitioner in his letter dated 27.08.2024, will be considered positively, however for taking procession and drama, there is no proper intimation given by the petitioner herein and hence, the same cannot be permitted.
4. This Court, on hearing the learned counsel on either side, finds that Pg.Nos.3/6
the request made by the petitioner is only to give Police protection for Vinayagar Chathurthi festival to be conducted inside the Temple and the respondents-Police agreed to give necessary protection.

As far as procession of Idol outside the Temple and drama, are concerned, there is no request made to the police and the time is too short for the police to consider request for conducting procession and drama. Hence, the petitioner prayer for permission to conduct procession of Vinayagar Idol outside the Temple premises and drama on the night of Vinayagar Chathurthi festival, is hereby declined.
6. This Writ Petition is disposed of with the above observations. There shall be no order as to costs.
