ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to register the complaint dated 12.06.2022 and to take appropriate action against the accused person and to file a detailed report before this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has sent an online complaint through Tamil Nadu Police Portal on 12.06.2022; the petitioner has also produced the complaint status, wherein it is stated that the complaint has been received and it has been forwarded to the concerned police station viz., the third respondent herein; in view of that, the third respondent has also replied to the petitioner to come with records and appear for enquiry; in compliance of the request made by the third respondent, the petitioner made his appearance and produced the documents; but his grievance is that even thereafter no action has been

taken by the third respondent police and it is also not known whether the respondent police has treated the complaint sent by the petitioner as a petition or a complaint.

4. It is the duty of the police to register the complaint and finish the enquiry and let the petitioner to know about the result of the enquiry. Hence the respondent police is directed to register the FIR and complete the enquiry on the complaint / petition filed by the petitioner by following the guidelines stipulated by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Lalita Kumari Vs. Government of Uttar Pradesh and others [2014 (2) SCC (1)] and inform it to the petitioner within a period of one month.

5. In the result, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed with a direction to the respondent police to register the FIR and complete the enquiry within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
