ORDER

The Secretary, Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, Kamarajar Salai, is suo-motu added as the 3 rd respondent in the writ petition.

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to deal with the representation made by the petitioner wherein the petitioner is seeking for allotment of an alternative site in the Auto Nagar Scheme.

Heard Mr.S. Illamvaludhi, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.K.Indumathy Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel for Respondents 1 to 3.

The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner was running a sofa lining shop from the year 1985. In the year 2011, Tamil Nadu Government introduced a scheme called "Auto Nagar Scheme". Persons who were in occupation near the river bed, were sought to be rehabilitated by alloting them an alternative site. Hence, the petitioner also submitted an application in this regard. On receipt of the same, the 2 nd respondent issued a notice to the petitioner on 17.08.2017 and directed the petitioner to pay a sum of Rs.31,450/- and also to deposit the initial amount of 20%, which is Rs.6,290/- The petitioner made the payment by demand draft dated 06.08.2018.Thereafter, the petitioner is knocking the doors of the respondent repeatedly. Since there was no progress, the petitioner submitted a representation on 12.07.2025. The same also did not evoke any response. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the materials placed before this Court, there shall be a direction to the impleaded 3 rd respondent to deal with the representation given by the petitioner and also the application submitted by the petitioner seeking for allotment under the Auto Nagar Scheme and the decision shall be conveyed to the petitioner within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
