ORDER
(Order of the court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.M.Lourdu Savio, learned counsel for the petitioner; and, Mr.R.P.Pragadishi, learned Central Government Counsel for respondent No.1.
2. The present writ petition is filed in the nature of a public interest litigation seeking directions to call for fresh applications to fill the seats in the Dental Colleges.
3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that more than 250 BDS seats are vacant in the State of Tamil Nadu. Almost 15% of the total seats available in the private and selffinancing colleges are vacant. As the seats go vacant, there is a
loss of crores of rupees and those seats would be vacant for further more years in Dental Colleges.
4. Learned counsel for the petitioner accepts that the last date for giving admission was 30.09.2023 for the academic year 2023-2024. We are in the month of February, 2024.
5. The petitioner wants fresh applications to be called for so that admission can be given to the students for the academic year 2023-2024 in the month of February-March, 2024.
6. We do not find any public interest involved in the present writ petition. On the contrary, the prayer made is unreasonable. The schedule fixed for admission cannot be tampered with. There is no rational in the prayer made by the petitioner.
7. The petitioner added the Minister for Education, New Delhi as party respondent, instead of the Secretary. It appears
that it may be for publicity purpose.
8. The writ petition is dismissed.
