Prayer in W.P.No.27714 of 2022: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to release the petitioner's TATA ACE INTRA V-30 bearing registration number T.N-38-DA-7166 which was seized by the 2nd respondent on 16.09.2022 by consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.10.2022.

Prayer in W.P.No.27714 of 2022: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the

1st respondent to release the petitioner's ASHOK LEYLAND TARUS LORRY bearing registration number TN-46-R-8440 which was seized by the 2nd respondent on 16.09.2022 by consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.10.2022.

For Petitioner .. Mr.M.Vinoth, in both WPs.

For Respondents .. Mr.U.Bharanidharan, Additional Government Pleader in both WPs.

COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed seeking a Mandamus directing the 1st respondent / District Revenue Officer, Coimbatore District, to release the vehicles of the petitioners namely, Tata ACE INTRA V-30 bearing Registration No.TN-38-DA-7166 and Ashok Leyland Tarus Lorry bearing Registration No.TN-46-R-8440, which have been seized by the 2nd respondent on 16.09.2022 and 12.08.2022 by considering the representations of the petitioners dated 10.10.2022.

2.The vehicles were seized consequent to the fact that they carried loads of rice meant for publication distribution. It is stated that necessary proceedings under Section 6 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 had been initiated by the 1st respondent.

3.On an earlier date, this Court had directed that the petitioners should approach the District Revenue Office at Coimbatore District on 03.01.2023. A report had been filed that the petitioners had actually appeared, but that further documents had been sought. 4.Let the enquiry be conducted and completed by the 1st respondent and orders be passed with respect to the release of vehicles on or before 25.01.2023. If any conditions are to be imposed, the same may be imposed by the 1st respondent.
