Respondents PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent Finance Department, the Government of Tamil Nadu to take immediate steps to sanction the amount without any delay to construct the check dam at Adhivaraganallur Village, Bhuvanagiri Taluk, Cuddalore District. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard learned counsel for the parties.

2. This Public Interest Litigation has been filed by the petitioner seeking direction to the first respondent to take immediate steps to

sanction the amount towards construction of check dam at Adhivaraganallur Village, Bhuvanagiri Taluk, Cuddalore District.

3. Taking into consideration the contents of the petition and the other communications made, we find that the construction of the project has not been stalled. We would expect the authorities to take all necessary steps towards sanction of the amount and completion of the project.

However, no specific mandamus can be issued, as the project involves financial implications. Though we are not putting any time line, we hope that the project will be completed as soon as possible.

4. The petition is, accordingly, disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
