This Court, by an order dated 20.11.2019 in Crl.R.C.No.951 of 2019, directed the learned First Additional District Judge, Coimbatore to dispose the Criminal Appeal No.535 of 2018, pending on its file, within a period of one month. Since the Criminal Appeal No.535 of 2018 could not be disposed of, the learned First Additional District Judge, Coimbatore has sent a letter to the Registry, seeking extension of time for disposal.
2. It is stated by the learned First Additional District Judge, Coimbaore, the arguments in Criminal Appeal No.535 of 2018 was commenced only on 06.02.2020 and the counsel for the respondent filed a petition on 28.07.2020, under Section 309 of Cr.P.C., seeking adjournment stating that the appellant has raised number of grounds with regard to the Income Tax Act and grounds of appeal and the papers are sent to the Higher Officials of the Department for proper scrutiny and adjudication of the matter and he has to discuss the particulars with Senior Standing Counsel, as the case involves huge amount.

In view of the above statements, and also considering the pandemic situation due to Covid-19, this Court is inclined to grant extension for a further period of three months for disposing the Criminal Appeal No.535 of 2018. It is made clear, both the parties are directed to co-operate for early disposal.
