Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Certiorari, Calling for the records of the 3rd respondent/Inspector of Labour, Tiruvallur relating to the proceedings in the Na.Ka.No.3111/1999 dated 30/6/2001 directing the petitioner to confer permanent status to the respondents 4 to 15 as worker in TamilNadu Electricity Board, Chennai Electricity Distribution Circle/North, Chennai and quash the same as illegal and without Jurisdiction.

J U D G M E N T

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) It appears that because of the lapse of time, the persons who are beneficiaries of the impugned order have lost their interest in the matter other than those who already stand permanently absorbed, being respondent Nos.4, 11, 13 and 14, qua whom the appeal has become infructuous. The learned counsel for the appellant states that despite their endeavour to locate the addresses from the Union and serve the remaining respondents at the given addresses, they appear to have shifted or are not available at the given addresses.

2. We feel keeping this appeal pending would be a futile exercise and thus dispose of the appeal with a direction that if any other respondents come forthwith to claim their rights, the matter can be revived. No costs.
