ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to appoint the petitioners as Assistant Professors in the subject they are qualified i.e., Chemical Engineering.
2.The contention of the learned counsel for the petitioners is that the petitioners were appointed as Lecturers in the Chemical Engineering in Annamalai University between 2002-04 and thereafter, they were granted promotion to the post of Assistant Professors in accordance with the Career Advancement Scheme upon completion of the mandatory requirements in accordance to the AICTE Regulations. Such being the position, the University vide order in No.171/2023, dated 24.04.2023 ordered for appointment of the petitioners as Lecturers in Government Polytechnic Colleges for a period of three years on agreement basis referring to Page No.2 of 4
G.O(D)No.106, Higher Education (H1) Department, dated 06.04.2023 vide proceedings No.14596/B3/2023, dated 18.04.2023. Now, the grievance of the petitioners is that they were appointed as Chemistry Lecturers in Polytechnic College which is no way related to their core qualification i.e., Chemical Engineering. In this regard, they have given a representation to the respondents, dated 18.07.2023, however, the same has not been considered.
3.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 3 submitted that appropriate orders will be passed on the representation of the petitioners within a short period. 4.Considering the limited prayer sought for in this Writ Petition, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners, dated 18.07.2023 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two months, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
