PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent herein to settle the entire retirement benefits like gratuity, provident fund, leave salary, one third commutation of pension amount, refund of amount deposited towards Erode Engineering College and Perundurai Medical College and Social Security Scheme with 6% interest by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 12.8.2024. ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 12.8.2024 to settle the entire retirement benefits like gratuity, provident fund, leave salary, etc., with 6% interest.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent.

The case of the petitioner is that he joined in the respondent - corporation as a Junior Engineer in the year 1988 and that he retired from service after attaining the age of superannuation on 31.5.2024 after putting in 35 years of service. The grievance of the petitioner is that even after his retirement, the terminal benefits have not been settled and that the representation made by the petitioner in this regard also did not evoke any response. It is under these circumstances, the above writ petition has been filed before this Court.
4. Taking into consideration the nature of grievance expressed by the petitioner, there shall be a direction to the respondent to settle the terminal benefits, for which, the petitioner is eligible, within a 3/5
period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is needless to point out that if there is any delay in settling the amount, it will carry interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date, on which, it became payable till the date of actual payment.
5. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
