Apprehending arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 51 read with 63 of Copyright Act,1957 in Crime No.27 of 2016 on the file of the respondent police, the petitioner/A1 has come forward with this petition seeking anticipatory bail. 2.

Heard the learned counsel on either side.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and He has not connected with the alleged offence. 4.

The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner/A1 along with other accused alleged to have possessed 11 boxes of pirated DVDs worth about Rs.1,796,00,000/- and the same have been seized by the respondent police.

5. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) would contend that A3 is the driver and the A2 is the owner of Cargo. Admittedly, the petitioner/A1 is a person who is to receive the DVDs and going to sell the same in the market illegally in his shop, which is at Burma Bazaar,Chennai. 6.

Selling pirated DVDs comes under the violation of Copy Right Act, 1957. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the fact that he has committed the serious offence, this Court is not inclined to grand the relief sought for by the petitioner. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 09.06.2016 kal
