ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to grant police protection to conduct a festival programme namely, Nadana Naatiya Nigazhchi on 13.11.2016 in view of the festival at Sri Kamatchiamman Temple, Goundempalayam, Salangapalayam (Post), Bhavani Taluk, Erode District .

2. It is seen that the petitioner made a representation dated 31.10.2016 to the respondent police seeking permission for the conduct of Adal Padal Programme in connection with Sri Kamatchiamman Temple, Goundempalayam, Salangapalayam (Post), Bhavani Taluk, Erode District and for police protection. The said representation was sent by post.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that no obscene dance programme should be allowed to be performed in the name of cultural programme.

4. Under such circumstances, the petitioner is directed to give a fresh representation to the respondent police disclosing the name of cultural troupe, which is going to perform and on such representation being made, the respondent police shall make inquiries with all the stake holders including the rival parties, if any, and pass appropriate orders either granting permission or refusing to grant permission depending upon the law and order situation in the locality. If permission is granted, at any cost, the programme should not be allowed to be conducted beyond 10.00 p.m. on 13.11.2016 and the programme should not have any indecent items.

6. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
