DATED: 11.03.2026

CORAM

THE HONOURABLE MR. SUSHRUT ARVIND DHARMADHIKARI, CHIEF JUSTICE AND THE HONOURABLE MR.JUSTICE G.ARUL MURUGAN WMP No. 30362 of 2023 in WP(MD) N o .24937 of K. Gurunathan S/o. Karuppanan, No.67, Pagalavadi Post, Thuraiyur Taluk, Trichirappalli District.

Petitioner(s) Vs The Union of India Rep by The Election Commission of India, Nirvanchansadan, Delhi-110 001 and 2 others Respondent(s) For Petitioner(s):

Mr. K.Gurunathan Party in Person

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner, appearing in person, has filed this application seeking to restore the writ petition, being W.P.(MD) No.24937 of 2022, to file.

2. Admittedly, the said writ petition was dismissed by order dated 8.9.2023 for want of prosecution.

3. We noticed from the averments contained in the writ petition that the petitioner alleging distribution of money during the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, 2021 sent representations to the respondents seeking CBI investigation. As the said representations did not evoke any response, the writ petition was filed to direct the respondents to consider the representations dated 26.9.2022 and 18.10.2022 and pass appropriate orders.

4. We find that the allegations pertain to the Assembly Elections of 2021. Much water has flown since then. Moreover, a

bare perusal of the averments in the writ petition show that vague allegations have been levelled against government officials and political parties, not supported by any shred of material. That apart, no specific instance of money distribution has been pointed out, but a general bald allegation is levelled against the political parties.

We see no good reason to entertain this interim application to restore the writ petition at this belated stage. Accordingly, the interim application is dismissed.
