O R D E R

The petitioner, who apprehends the arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offence punishable under Section 420 of I.P.C., in Crime No.16 of 2025, on the file of the respondent police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The complaint relates to the collection of unauthorised chit funds from the public and default in repayment.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent submits that there are totally 276 victims and the total amount collected is Rs.33,16,000/-. A1 in this case, the husband of the petitioner, was arrested and released on bail. The petitioner herein (A2) is the prime accused, who had signed the receipts and she is absconding.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that out of Rs.33 lakhs collected, Rs.17 lakhs have already been repaid to the depositors. 2/4

5. In any event, since the collection of deposits unauthorisedly and contrary to law coupled with non-payment, requires probe and custodial interrogation of the petitioner, who had issued the receipts, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail.
