ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed to quash the proceedings in Special SC.No.3 of 2016 on the file of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Special Judge, Chengalpattu taken cognizance for the offences

punishable under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as against the petitioner.

The learned Government Advocate(crl.side) appearing for the respondent submitted that already trial commenced and so far, prosecution had examined six witnesses out of 25 witnesses.

Therefore, at this stage, this petition cannot be entertained and the same is liable to be dismissed.

At that juncture, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that for the very same set of charges, departmental enquiry was conducted and the petitioner was exonerated from all the charges. However, now he is facing trial and the prosecution also delayed the matter for the past ten years. 5.

Considering the above submission, the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Special Judge, Chengalpattu is directed to complete the trial in Special SC.No.3 of 2016 within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

With the above direction, this criminal original petition is dismissed.
