The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent bank to disburse the entire 1/4

amount lying in Term Deposit A/c.No.67153079831 with State Bank of India at Annanagar West Extension Branch, Chennai of late Mrs.Parvathi Balasubramanian, to the petitioner. 2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has given letter dated 20.02.2024 to the Registry seeking to list the matter, however, when the matter was taken up for consideration, the learned counsel seeks adjournment.

3.This Court perused the entire records. The records reveal that the petitioner's aunt maintained annual term deposit with State Bank of India at Anna Nagar West Extension Branch, Chennai and she died on 23.01.2021 at the age of 90 years and her husband pre-deceased her and they have no child and during her lifetime, she appointed the petitioner as nominee to her. On 04.03.2022, the petitioner went to the respondent and requested them to disburse the amount to her. In this regard, the petitioner also made representation dated 17.08.2022, however, the same has not yet been considered. 4.At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice if this Court issue direction to 2/4

the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.08.2022 and to pass appropriate orders, within a reasonable time frame.

5.Considering the limited request now made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.08.2022, conduct enquiry and after hearing the petitioner as well as the other interested parties, if any, and pass appropriate orders, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
