The writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to dispose the petitioner's representation dated 19.08.2019. 2.The petitioner claims to be an allottee of Slum Clearance Board tenements at 10th Street, Ashok Nagar, Chennai - 600 083, 1/3

and has come forward to file this writ petition as a Public Interest Litigation, alleging that the existing structure has become dilapidated.

The respondents announced that new apartments, consisting of 80 houses in 420 sq.ft. with compound wall, parking, etc. will be built and the 2nd respondent, being the Member of Legislative Assembly, also raised the issue on the Floor of the Assembly. The grievance now expressed by the petitioner is that, on account of the demolition, the residents have vacated the premises and are in occupation of rental premises, however, the construction proposed to be put up is in such a way that it is going to cause utmost hardship and inconvenience to the occupants. The petitioner has submitted a representation dated 19.08.2019 to the concerned officials and despite receipt and acknowledgment of the same, there is no reply from the respondents, and hence, the petitioner is constrained to approach this Court by filing this writ petition. 3.

When the matter was listed on 21.10.2019 for admission, Mr.R.Sivakumar, learned counsel accepted notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and sought time to get instructions. When the matter was taken up for hearing today, learned counsel appearing for the 1st respondent, on instructions, would submit that a new structure will be constructed for housing 80 families and biometric enumeration has also been done and the construction will commence soon and will be completed as expeditiously as possible and quality construction will also be ensured. 4.In the light of the said submission made by the learned counsel appearing for the 1st respondent, no further orders are necessary in this matter.

The 1st respondent shall immediately take necessary steps to commence and complete the construction at the earliest and shall also ensure that the construction is of good quality. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
