This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 23.02.2023 wherein the petitioner has sought for terminal benefits of her deceased son.

2. Heard Mr.G.Kartheeban, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.S.Gopinathan, learned Standing Counsel appearing for first respondent.
3. The case of the petitioner is that her husband was working in the Chennai Corporation and he died on 28.07.1997. Hence, the son of the petitioner was given compassionate appointment as Office Assistant on 23.07.1998 and he was working in the Alandur Corporation. The son of the petitioner died while he was in service on 09.12.2015. There is some dispute between the petitioner and her daughter-in-law. The claim made by the petitioner is that the terminal benefits must be settled in her favour. Since the representation made by the petitioner did not evoke any response, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into the merits of the case, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to deal with the representation made by the petitioner on 23.02.2023 after affording opportunity to the second respondent and a decision shall be taken within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4
This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
