Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, praying to punish the respondents for Contempt of Court for wilful disobedience of the order passed in W.P.No.20485 of 2020 dated 19.11.2021.

O R D E R

[Made by S. M. SUBRAMANIAM, J.,] The present contempt petition has been instituted to punish the respondents for their wilful disobedience of the order of this Court dated 19.11.2021 in W.P.No.20485 of 2020.

2. The Block Development Officer, addressed a letter to the petitioner on 06.06.2022 stating that a survey was conducted and the authorities found that the width of the footpath is four feet and therefore, there is no possibility of laying a tar road. However, the authorities have ensured that they will maintain the footpath, prevent any waterlogging and Page Nos.2/4

ensure the free usage of the pathway for public purposes. It is needless to state that the public infrastructure, including the roads and streets must be maintained free from encroachment and waterlogging for the usage of the people residing in that locality.

3. In view of the said submission, the authorities are directed to ensure that the footpath is maintained properly and kept free from waterlogging, particularly during rainy season, to enable the people residing in that locality to use the pathway to reach their respective properties.

4. With the above directions, the Contempt Petition stands disposed of.
