The petitioner company is engaged in the business of cotton ginning and yarn manufacturing. However, the respondents 3 and 4, who act as intermediaries for cotton purchases, were involved in supplying substandard material, which led the petitioner to halt business dealings with them. In response, the respondents have allegedly been causing repeated disturbances and engaging in acts of harassment against the petitioner company. Hence, the petitioner submitted a complaint to respondents 1 and 2 on 07.08.2024, requesting appropriate action against the private respondents and seeking police protection to ensure the petitioner could continue its business activities peacefully. Despite this, no action has been taken on the complaint, and the matter remains unresolved for reasons best known to the respondents.

Therefore, the petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a direction to respondents 1 and 2 to provide police protection, enabling the petitioner to carry out its cotton ginning and yarn manufacturing business at its premises located at S.F.No.40, Sukkiramanian Gounden Pudhur Village, and S.F.No.328, Annur Village & Taluk, Coimbatore District, in consideration of the petitioner's complaint dated 07.08.2024.

A careful examination of the matter reveals that the issue between the parties arises primarily from a financial dispute, particularly related to a money transaction concerning the cotton supply and quality of materials. The petitioner claims that, in order to resolve the grievances regarding the substandard materials supplied by the respondents, they have been subjected to repeated disturbances and harassment. However, it is important to note that such matters, rooted in financial transactions or disputes, are typically addressed through legal remedies such as civil suits, arbitration, or other dispute resolution mechanisms. The involvement of law enforcement, specifically police protection, is generally not warranted in purely civil matters or disputes concerning financial transactions. Therefore, the writ petition seeking police protection does not appear to be an appropriate or legal course of action in this case, and as such, the petition is dismissed.
